Simplified ordering for healthcare providers

Getting started with MyOme is easy. Healthcare providers can quickly create an account through the MyOme Provider Portal, ensuring a seamless ordering experience. Our platform is designed to integrate smoothly into clinical workflows, making genetic testing more accessible and efficient.

Samples and logistics

Sample requirements and logistics

MyOme accepts blood and buccal samples. For a smoother process, sample collection kits are available, and can be sent either to your office or directly to the patient. Once collected, kits are returned to our lab using a pre-paid package.

Label each tube with

Patient's full name · Patient's date of birth · Sample collection date

Blood

Volume

Collect blood in both tubes. Minimum one EDTA (lavender top) tube with at least 3 mL of whole blood; pediatric collection of 4–5 mL in a single tube is acceptable. Multiple tests can typically run from one 3 mL sample.

Stability

Ship the same day as collection. If that is not possible, refrigerate at 2–8°C and ship within 24 hours.

Shipping

Overnight, Monday–Thursday, in the pre-labeled FedEx Clinical Pak. A cold pack is recommended in warmer months.

Not accepted

Patients who have received an allogeneic bone marrow or stem cell transplant (donor DNA — cultured fibroblast DNA is required instead). Transfusions within two weeks may impact results. Specimens are rejected if frozen, hemolyzed, clotted, or unlabeled.

Buccal swab

Collection

No eating, drinking, smoking, or gum for 30 minutes beforehand. Use one swab per cheek and rub along the lower gums 10 times.

Stability

Store at room temperature (15–25°C / 59–77°F) and ship within one week of collection.

Kit contents

Two buccal swab kits, a biohazard bag with absorbent pad, and pre-labeled shipping materials.

Not accepted

DNA yield is limited, so additional samples may be required for multiple tests. Specimens are rejected if the stabilizing solution leaks or the tube is unlabeled.

Results are returned through MyOme’s secure portal. Reports include actionable clinical insights, with options for independent physician review and an easy-to-understand independent provider note that can be shared with patients.
