FAQs

General

Who is MyOme?

At MyOme, we help families understand their DNA, and how it impacts their health throughout their lives, with secure and portable data using the latest technologies. MyOme offers clinical whole genome genetic tests. Your healthcare provider asked us to perform these tests to better understand your risk for disease, response to medications, or to help diagnose a condition.

Logistical

How do I speak with a representative about incorporating MyOme's tests into our organization?

Please send an email to support@myome.com. A member of our Patient & Customer Experience (PCX) team will get in contact with you.

How do I order a test for my patients?

Upon setting up an account with us, you can order the test directly from our ordering portal. For flexibility, we also offer patient-initiated ordering (in which an independent healthcare provider reviews and, if determined appropriate for the patient, will order the test).

How do I access my patient's test results?

Once results are ready, you will receive notification to log onto the provider portal, where you will be able to view and download your patients' results, request a genetic counseling session for your patient, and order additional tests.

How long does it take to get test results?

For a patient's first-time test on our platform, please anticipate 5-6 weeks for their results to be returned once we receive their sample at our lab. For additional and/or new reports (in which we've already sequenced and analyzed a patient's sample for a previous report), please expect approximately 2-3 weeks.

Can I order tests if I or my patients is outside of the U.S.?

Currently, MyOme tests are only available to providers and patients within the U.S. and Canada.

Who can I contact at MyOme for technical support?

For any MyOme-related questions, support needs, or troubleshooting, simply contact our PCX team at support@myome.com. They act as a central hub to streamline support and get you the right help, fast.

Data Privacy and Protection

At MyOme, a patient's data belongs to the patient and the ordering provider. A patient or registered provider requests one's DNA data anytime, and we never sell or share anyone's data without their permission. In addition, our platform is HIPAA-compliant and features enterprise-scale data encryption.

Pharmacogenomics

How can pharmacogenomic testing help my patients?

Pharmacogenomic testing can provide a personalized look at how a patient's genetics may impact their response to various medications. The MyOme Personal Genome™ Medication Response analyzes a patient's genome for variants associated with approximately 70 medications. This report may be used, along with other clinical factors, to:

  • Improve patient outcomes by selecting medications that are more likely to be effective; and
  • Reduce costs by minimizing medication changes and adverse side effects

By tailoring treatments to each patient's genetic profile, you can enhance care quality and efficiency.

Clinical

How is MyOme's test different from other genetic tests?

MyOme leverages the whole genome at >30x coverage, which represents nearly 98% of a person's genome. The MyOme Single-Gene Risk analyzes a carefully selected panel of clinically actionable genes that are known to increase the risk of certain health conditions.

At MyOme, our mission is to empower patients with a lifetime of genetic insights from a single sample.* Leveraging clinical-grade testing, we ensure that this single sample can be re-analyzed for future reports. This includes access to expanded content, updates to existing data—such as when new clinical findings emerge—and the confidence that serves as the comprehensive platform for your patient's genetic insights, now and into the future.

Will genetic testing impact my patient's health insurance or life insurance?

The Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act (GINA) and other state laws protect patients from certain types of genetic discrimination, such as health insurance eligibility or coverage. To learn more, please visit ginahelp.org

What additional reports will MyOme have in the near future?

The MyOme platform unlocks a lifetime of health information from a single sample submission*. Because we perform clinical-grade testing, we can re-analyze that single sample for future reports. We aim to continuously make new and updated reports available so patients' genetic risks can be leveraged–across a multitude of clinical conditions–to identify the next best steps for their health.

Reports and Genetic Counseling

How can I schedule a consultation with a genetic counselor for my patient?

MyOme is committed to empowering patients with knowledge about their genetic health. That's why we've partnered with DNAvisit to offer genetic counseling consultations for MyOme Personal Genome™ orders.

There are two ways to ensure your patient has the opportunity to schedule a consultation with a certified genetic counselor:

  • When placing the order: When submitting an order, in the “testing information” section select the option for "post-test genetic counseling.
  • After receiving results: If genetic counseling wasn't selected during the initial order, you may contact support@myome.com for assistance.

If post-test genetic counseling is selected, your patient will receive an email notification from DNAvisit. This email will provide a link to easily schedule a consultation at your patient's convenience. After your patient's consultation with DNAvisit, consultation notes will be shared with you via email for easy access and review.

Costs

What does the test cost?

We aim to make our tests as accessible as possible, which includes offering institutional billing rates. To inquire, please contact us at support@myome.com.

Are the tests covered by insurance?

The MyOme Proactive Health is not currently covered by insurance. Because the test is ordered by a licensed healthcare provider, there is no sales tax. Patients may use HSA and / or FSA funds towards the MyOme Proactive Health test. Account billing is available.

What methods of payment do you accept for MyOme tests?

We generate invoices at the end of every month for all reports delivered in that month. Payments can be made with any major credit card, check or money order.

How much will additional test reports cost?

As more reports are added to the MyOme platform, patients who have already ordered an initial test will have low-cost, timely access to these reports.

*In some cases, an additional sample may be required.
